what is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems that arise from abnormalities in the positioning of teeth and jaws.

Your orthodontist, Dr. Nadia Farjo, completed years of specialized training in addition to four years of dental school to gain expertise in orthodontics, making her your trusted choice if you have any concerns about the look or feel of your smile.

what's the best age to visit my orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist at age 7; however, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens. Our practice regularly treats adults seeking care for a variety of reasons-- some who always wanted braces, some who have noticed their teeth shifting over time, and others who had braces in their youth and (oops!) didn't wear their retainers. Whether you're considering treatment for yourself or your child, any time is a good time to meet with Dr. Farjo to discuss the available options.

How long will i have to wear braces?

The amount of time spent in braces will vary depending on the individual patient, because every smile responds differently to treatment. Dr. Farjo aims to finish her non-complex cases in under 24 months. Want them off sooner? Ask any of our patients and they'll tell you that wearing those rubber bands as directed will take months off the total treatment time!

does it hurt?

Placement of the braces at your Start Appointment is a painless procedure. Wearing braces will not often hurt, though you may feel a small amount of discomfort for a couple of days after your appointments as your teeth, gums, cheeks, and mouth get used to your new braces and the teeth moving.
